Crime Fiction & Thrillers
Enter the world of Frank Hofmann—a brilliantly unconventional German detective whose sharp mind cuts through crime with unsettling precision. Suspenseful, darkly entertaining, and unforgettable.
A fast-paced, darkly addictive crime series featuring Frank Hofmann—a brutally honest, unconventional German detective whose chaotic methods and sharp instincts make every case impossible to put down. Fueled by instinct, strong coffee, and an alarming appetite, he moves through crime scenes with unsettling precision.
Frank Hofmann is a German detective who's secured a two-year gig with the Federal Police in Australia. Brilliant, stubborn, and not particularly fond of authority, he has a habit of asking questions long after everyone else thinks a case is closed.
The story you're about to read is typical Frank—it follows his journey to Australia and shows his quirks and rumbling-gut feelings which he always makes good use of. Of course, although we meet Frank on a simple travel day, he can't make the trip without noticing things that don't add up.
Tiny details.
Little inconsistencies.
But more than enough to make it clear that wherever Frank goes, complications tend to follow.
An elusive killer strikes mercilessly from within the confines of the witness protection program . . .
The very program designed to protect people is killing them and the Australian Federal Police is oblivious. Meet Frank Hofmann: larger than life, brilliantly unconventional and going through a midlife crisis. Despite his recent suspension, Frank's insatiable hunger for justice catapults him into a deadly chase with the killer always one step ahead...
This killer has an agenda no one sees coming . . .
Former AFP partner, Amy Lamborne, becomes Frank's only ally. Because if he's right, this is bound to culminate in a showdown of epic proportions. The countdown is on to save his career, his sanity, and human lives.
Join a pulse-pounding race against the clock through the shadows of a witness protection program where danger lurks in unexpected places . . .
THE PERFECT ALIBI
A missing cab driver. A string of murders. Frank Hofmann never believed in coincidences—and what starts as a simple missing persons case quickly turns into something far darker. DNA identifies the killer—but the suspect is already dead. Which raises a chilling question.
HOW DOES A DEAD MAN KILL?
As the body count rises, the Australian Federal Police call it a copycat. But Frank knows better. He's been digging into this case for months. Peeling back layers. Following threads others were too quick to bury. And Frank understands something most don't—some cases dig up more than just the dead.
WHEN THE RULES ARE BENT, ONLY THE BROKEN KNOW HOW TO PLAY
Hauling years of grief—and the kind of gut earned from seeking closure in kebabs and cakes—Frank must outthink a killer who's no longer alive. With Amy by his side and the ghost of his murdered wife never far behind, Frank will have to dig deeper than ever—because in this case, the past isn't just alive.
It's deadly.

Drummed out of the Police for failing a fitness test, Detective Frank Hofmann feels that time is slipping through his fingers, as are the cases he is, or at least was, investigating. Frank knows something doesn't sit right with a series of murders. The clues are all there and if anyone is going to make the connections, it's going to be Frank. That is if he can keep away from donuts and kebabs long enough to ensure his heart doesn't call time.
Frank is a larger than life character in every sense. A German, looking to make a life for himself in Brisbane, Frank finds a lot to like about his new home. And he's joining the dots on the murders. Frank's progress is being checked though. Someone knows that Frank is onto something and that state of affairs cannot be allowed to continue.
A clever and absorbing storyline built around a very likeable protagonist with wit, cunning and plenty of foibles. More please; as Frank himself would say.
A flight from Bangkok to Brisbane. One passenger draws Frank's attention.
